At the time, and based solely on this card and picture, I thought of Ruthven as a shortstop. It just looks like he's in the middle infield.Charliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01866365152704476893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4487834052004001845.post-27214876520893098512012-03-18T18:26:06.555-04:002012-03-18T18:26:06.555-04:00that is an odd spot for a pitch...maybe we are all...that is an odd spot for a pitch...maybe we are all off and he is in some fielding action??

it almost seems like he is running.

need to check all the phils cards and see if we can figure out the game....pin stripes would be phils at homefredbeenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16073502807697151767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4487834052004001845.post-47463522259356577092011-09-01T02:02:46.765-04:002011-09-01T02:02:46.765-04:00Until now, I also thought this was a shot of Ruthv...Until now, I also thought this was a shot of Ruthven the mound. His arm action is a result of him throwing a screwball, his signature pitch. Looks painful, but an awesome shot!coyote runhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02028463730954767571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4487834052004001845.post-84583333343396862242010-07-28T00:06:12.776-04:002010-07-28T00:06:12.776-04:00I always found this card striking because of all t...I always found this card striking because of all the weird lines and angles. It always looks miscut because of the way the bottom of the OF wall rises slightly going L to R and the Top of the wall does so even more so. Even his Fascimile Auto follows the Warning Track line.

The bullpens were beyond the OF walls at least post 1990- prior to that they may have been in different areas. I can't remember which OF wall had the NL team banners on it right now. may have to do some research.dealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04633750324558738343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4487834052004001845.post-72093413050814573422010-07-27T22:03:41.706-04:002010-07-27T22:03:41.706-04:00One of my all-time favorite cards and from a pitch...One of my all-time favorite cards and from a pitcher who helped the Cubs win the 1984 NE East!Johngyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18416011578421652629noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4487834052004001845.post-19462975410235628902010-07-27T01:14:57.771-04:002010-07-27T01:14:57.771-04:00That is some wicked arm action. I mean that the photographer got him to throw a pitch outside the first base line just for a photo.Play at the Platehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14231140141558021698noreply@blogger.com
